Morocco at a Crossroads: Elections 2026 and the Test of Governance

The Moroccan political scene is entering a pivotal phase with the upcoming parliamentary elections scheduled for September 23, 2026, which will determine the composition of the House of Representatives and, consequently, the structure of the Moroccan government for the next five years. These elections represent a key moment for the renewal of the legislative institution and provide an opportunity to assess the performance of the current government in light of achievements and shortcomings in several vital sectors.
A current analysis indicates that the parties currently leading the government face political challenges that may hinder their ability to achieve strong electoral results. These challenges stem from a combination of objective factors, most notably:
